Tricksters Bratislava third at the tournament in Split
Lacrosse players Tricksters Bratislava defended last year's third place at the lacrosse tournament in Split, Croatia.
The start of the tournament was not as expected for our boys, because after the league round in Zvolen, up to 5 players reported health problems, or work duties and so the guys traveled with a small soul in a stripped-down ensemble to a seaside resort in Dalmatia.
In the first match, the Tricksters managed quite convincingly against Ljubljana 11:2, but then there were difficult matches against the paper favourites.
In the match against the English team Paddington Bears, our team performed an excellent defensive performance, while they managed to punish the opponent's mistakes and finally won 3:0.
This was followed by the last match of the basic group against the German Ahoj Bojz, which decided the overall position of the teams in the elimination round. Ours started off great again, leading 3:0 at halftime, but then they slowed down and the opponent used it to correct the score to 6:3.
Even considering the development in the second group, it was clear that the Tricksters would go to the play-in match for a place in the Semi-Finals, where they met the not very popular Latvian team Archers. However, they once again showed a performance worthy of champions and did not let the Latvians do anything. We won the match again by 0, 3:0.
In the semi-final, the match from last year was repeated, when we played against Radotín Wolves. They dominated the faceoffs from the start and quickly won 3:0. Gradually, we managed to equalize the game, but in the end they recorded their first loss in the tournament in the ratio of 6:2.
The loss meant that the Tricksters were only fighting for 3rd place in the tournament, which was really incredible under the circumstances. However, it turned out well in the end and the Trickster won 4:2 over the German team Bäm!bel!, which was made up of players from the champion Stuttgart.
