Wrap up of TRICKSTERS CUP 2012

The Tricksters Cup is an annual tournament that takes place in Bratislava, Slovakia. Its third instalment was held during the weekend of September 8 and 9. Just as in previous years, the tournament kept its international character. Participants included the Vienna Cherokees (Austria), the Budapest Blackberries (Hungary), the Prievidza Headhun-terz (Slovakia) and Bratislava's home team, the Tricksters (Slovakia).

The tournament consisted of both mens and women's lacrosse. The mens final unexpectedly saw the Prievidza Headhunterz take on last years champion, the Tricksters. The teams were surprisingly evenly matched, and the final ended with a 10:8 result for the home team Tricksters. The Trickets look forward to hanging on to the Cup that bears their name for yet another year.

The women's portion was slightly more geared for the beginning player. The Budapest Blackberries bravely fought for their first victories ever as a team. The most experienced team, the Vienna Cherokees, came to train their newest players, and the Tricksters Ladies also used the games as a chance to get valuable game experience for their rookies. Despite the inexperience, the matches were often exciting 'til the last minute. The visiting Cherokees proved, sadly for Tricksters, to be too much for the hosts, with final scores of 9:7 and 11:10 in their favour.

New moves were learned, skills were gained, formations were tested and most importantly, lots of fun was experienced throughout the weekend. After the first round of games on Saturday, all the players went on a cheerful sightseeing tour and a party in the Old Town of Bratislava. Rematch games were played on Sunday and the Lady Cherokees defended their position from Saturday and captured first place. The host Tricksters finished second, and last, but certainly not least, were the newcomers to the European lacrosse family, the Budapest Blackberries.

In conclusion, the tournament was a nice opportunity to play and to gain new lacrosse experience in a competitive, yet friendly atmosphere in the heart of Europe. We are already looking forward to seeing everyone again and we hope that many more will come and join us next year.
