"The future is ORANGE!"
Perhaps, this is a year when the highest number of rookies joined our team. Most of the rookies started to play lacrosse just by the end of the last year. It is great that taste of lacrosse is finding a young generation. The average age of our youngsters is a little bellow 18. During the long winter time they have worked hard on their selves and despite of lack of zero game experience they introduce their selves in challenging NBLL with relentless and pleasant performances. After the last games for the final standings in NBLL we gave to six of them a few questions:
Tricksters.sk: How would you evaluate your first lacrosse months and your presence at the team?
Miroslav Šamo – My first months was difficult as I started to play during the winter. It was just about running and for someone like me who was out of the shape it was not pleasant at all.
Tomáš Baxa – Relatively succesfully even though it could be better. Especially concerning my effort outside of the practices (wall).
Marek Džula – I do not know how to properly responde to this question but I will tell you that I have changed several sports but just in this team I have found what the real team is all about… I came among the guys probably as the youngest and I did not expected that they would take me as they did… When I started everyone advised me and tried to support me. I was very pleased by this and after several months I have felt as I would know them already for many years… Now I know what is the team. It is my second family which is helping me with everything. They are the most amazing people I have ever know. As they helped me I hope that someday I will be able to return it back to them by my good play :)
Michal Chylík – They were definitely interesting. I had to learn many new things, especially the work with the stick is unique since it is hard to meet anyone who would know something as lacrosee. By honest practice and by experiences from the games it is constantly improving. Currently I have played cca 12 games.
Ivan Ivančin – Beginnings was difficult. I had to learn how to use the stick and synchronise my movements into something intergrated, even though it is still not so good. However, after two months the lacrosse completely got me. I can not imagine my free time other than being ordered around during the practices for everything I break or someone else breaks it. I can not imagine my free time also without my girlfriend wall.
Tricksters.sk: How your relatives and classmates accepted that you are playing lacrosse?
Miroslav Šamo – My classmates said: „Lacrosse? What is it?“ Now when they know what it is they are taking it as if I would play any other sport. My parents told me: „When you wanna get killed, so go for it and play it“ (obviously they said it after I have explained to them what is lacrosse all about) :)
Tomáš Baxa – At the beginning they did not know at all what kind of sport it is. When they found out that it is a contact sport, withing a family they were surprised.
Marek Džula – Most of my acquaintances and classmates did not even know what it is. When I explained it to them everyone said that „whaaat?! ..how do you catch it into that net?“ and similar questions. Many of them would like to try it but most of todays teenagers they do not feel like doing anything… they rather go for a „smoke“…etc.
…to be continued soon…
