Tricksters Bratislava bring home bronze from Split

Tricksters Bratislava have achieved another success on the international stage, taking third place at a highly competitive lacrosse tournament in Split, Croatia. The bronze medal is all the sweeter because, in the decisive match, they defeated the Czech team Malešice 6–4—the very team they had narrowly lost to at the start of the tournament.

The Tricksters opened the Split tournament with that match against Malešice. It was a tight contest decided by a single goal, with the Bratislava side suffering a narrow 4–5 defeat.

However, they bounced back that same day. Facing Jižní Město—last year’s tournament winner and, as it turned out, this year’s champion as well—they put in a strong performance; after another close battle, they emerged victorious with a 4–3 win. This victory over the defending champions demonstrated that the Tricksters can hold their own against top-tier opponents.

Day two brought ten goals and more drama

The Tricksters started the next day of play in style. They dominated against Zagreb, securing a decisive 10–1 victory.

Next came a match against Beach Whales, which once again came down to the wire. This time, luck was on the opponent's side, and the Tricksters lost 3–4.

After four matches, the Bratislava team held a record of two wins and two narrow losses—with both defeats decided by a single-goal margin. Unlike the women's tournament, the men's competition did not feature semi-finals; instead, the top two teams played in the final, while the third- and fourth-placed teams faced off against each other.

Playing for bronze against the team that started it all

The tournament ultimately set the stage for a perfect storyline. In the match for third place, Tricksters once again faced Malešice. While the Czech side had edged them out by a single goal in their earlier meeting, Tricksters succeeded in their bid for revenge during this decisive match. They defeated Malešice 6–4, securing third place overall at the Split tournament.

TRICKSTERS BRATISLAVA – 3RD PLACE

Tricksters' tournament run:

Malešice – 4:5
Jižní Město – 4:3
Zagreb – 10:1
Beach Whales – 3:4
Match for 3rd place: Malešice – 6:4

Overall record: 3 wins, 2 losses; goal difference 27:17.

The bronze medal from Split is a valuable achievement, but the manner in which the team earned it is equally significant. Tricksters managed to defeat last year's tournament winner, dominated their match against Zagreb, and their only two losses were by a margin of just one goal.
