Tricksters second in the tournament in Split

The Tricksters Bratislava lacrosse club participated in the tournament in Split, Croatia at the end of September and took a beautiful second place.

We left for Split the day before to enjoy the nice, still summery weather. Friday was already a game day, and we were supposed to play 2 difficult games in a row.

In the first game, we played against the Ukrainian national team, which had a young but larger team. The game was like a seesaw, and the opponent was able to answer every one of our goals. Fortunately, we showed our quality and managed to finish the game in our favor. The result of the game was 7:6.

The second game of the day was even more difficult. We played against Jižní Město from Prague, who were reinforced by several Canadian and American players. This game was decided primarily by the width of the bench, and our boys showed fatigue from the previous game. Jižní Město won 9:4.

On Saturday we played an important first match against Zagreb Bulldogs. A win would have put us directly into the semi-finals and we wouldn't have to play the quarter-finals, so we approached this match responsibly and clearly defeated our opponent 9:0.

The second match of the day was the match against Riga from Latvia, who played for medals last year. This match was very close and we won it 4:3. We therefore met the same opponent in the semi-finals of the tournament, as we took the final 3rd place in the table and Riga finished in 2nd place.

In the semi-finals we defeated Riga again, this time 3:2, and thus secured a place in the final of the tournament, where we met Jižní Město again on Sunday. This time it was a completely different match. The result of the match was mainly influenced by the first half, when our opponent scored 4 goals and was clearly better. In the second half, we tied the match, but we only managed to score twice. The final result of the match was 6:2 in favor of the Czech team.
