The Tricksters missed third place at the Split tournament

On October 4–6, 2024, a prestigious lacrosse tournament was held in Split, Croatia, in which the Slovak team Tricksters Bratislava also participated. The tournament brought a lot of exciting matches and the people of Bratislava showed themselves in great form. They ended up finishing 4th overall when they lost to the Latvian team Riga Griffins in a dramatic bronze medal match.

The journey through the tournament The Tricksters entered the tournament with high ambitions. Already in the basic group, they showed quality performances and gradually secured a place in the elimination battles after a win over the English Peddington Bears, a loss against Lotišská Riga and a victory over the Czech club from the South of Prague. Two victories from the basic group brought them advancement to the semi-finals from second place, where they encountered a strong opponent and favorite of the tournament, the Good Stick mix team, which included several Americans and Czech representatives. The semi-final duel was a clear affair and the Tricksters had to bow down to the speed and efficiency of their opponent.

Fight for bronze After the failure in the semi-finals, the Tricksters focused on the duel for 3rd place, where they faced the Latvian team Riga Griffins, with whom they already lost in the basic group. The match was dynamic and full of physical battles, with both teams showing offensive and defensive qualities. The Tricksters entered the match excellently, already leading 2:0. However, the opponent managed to reduce by half time. Riga took the lead after the break. Ours managed to respond to Riga's leading goal, but then with their own indiscipline they put the opponent on the horse and he took full advantage of it. He scored 3 goals and secured the victory. in the ratio of 6:3.

Positive outlook Even though they failed to win a medal this year, the Tricksters Bratislava team left a great impression at the tournament and has great potential for the future. The players gained more experience and their performance was clearly better compared to previous tournaments. The fans can thus look forward to the further performances of the team, which still has the ambition to move up and be competitive on the European lacrosse scene.

The tournament in Split brought a great lacrosse experience, and despite a narrow loss in the battle for bronze, the Tricksters confirmed that they are among the top teams in Central and Eastern Europe.
