The Tricksters will not play in the Slovak Lacrosse League

Lacrosse club Tricksters Bratislava has decided to end its participation in the Slovak Lacrosse League. This decision arose as a result of the belief that the direction of the league is not sufficiently focused on the support and development of lacrosse in Slovakia.

Since its foundation in 2003, the Tricksters lacrosse club has tried to strengthen and popularize lacrosse in Slovakia. The club was involved in various activities related to the support and dissemination of information about this sport to the public. However, despite our efforts and dedication, we feel that the Slovak Lacrosse League is not taking the necessary steps to support the growth and development of new clubs in the country.

One of the main reasons why the Tricksters lacrosse club made this decision is the lack of systematic programs and initiatives by the Slovak Lacrosse League that would strengthen youth development and raise awareness of lacrosse among young players. We see these shortcomings as an obstacle to creating a permanent foundation for lacrosse in Slovakia. Since 2010, up to 6 clubs have gradually been involved in the league in Slovakia. In recent years, however, we have seen stagnation and regression in the support of building new clubs and their involvement in SLL. In the last year of the SLL, only 3 Slovak clubs played in the league, and in 2024 there should be only 2. The approach when it is easier to drag a player to another club, without the need to search for and train new players, is unacceptable to us.

Although this is a difficult decision for the Tricksters Lacrosse Club, we believe that leaving the league will allow us to focus on other ways to support and grow lacrosse in our country. We plan to continue organizing trainings, competitions and events that will serve to support the growth of lacrosse in Slovakia.

The decision of the Tricksters club to end its participation in the Slovak lacrosse league is a challenge not only for us, but also for the entire lacrosse community in Slovakia. It shows the need to intensify efforts to support and develop this sport in our country so that it takes its place among other more popular sports.
