Three lacrosse days in Prague
From Friday, June 22 to Sunday, June 24, the 21st International Prague Tournament was held in Prague. Also this year, the Lacrosse Club from Bratislava, Tricksters, thanks to Stefe's sponsorship, took part in this, thank you very much.
The Slovaks participated in the tournament for the third time in history and in the competition of the Czech Republic, last year's winner London Lions and the Austrian national team finished at 4th place.
In the first match in the tournament, our boys came against an opponent from England who clearly dominated and won a 16:1. Tricksters did not show much in the attack, even for the fact that the opponent's defense was really at a very good level.
The second match in the tournament was a match between Czechs and Slovaks. The Czech Republic has come to the lead from the beginning, and it seems that the match will have the same course as the one with England. However, the Slovaks started off, settled the game and could even finish the game in the end. They did not change their chances and rival from the river of Morava won 9:8.
The third opponent at the tournament was the Austrian national team, which did not remain owed to its German origin. The high organization of the game, as well as the quality of the attack and the defense, meant that our boys had only few chances and eventually ended the goalkeepers of Austria. Even the third match in the tournament, the Slovaks lost, this one 11:3.
The three losses were the fourth place in the table and the confidence that they will meet the best tournament team in semifinals. As a result, the Czech Republic eventually became a number one and it was an interesting duel that could surprise us.
The Slovaks started this game better and scored first goal. However, it was as if the Czech lion woke up and the match turned to its advantage. The Slovaks returned to the match only in the fourth quarter, when the match was essentially decided, and the semifinal duel lost 15:6. Lost meant that our boys had entered the third place against Austria, who lost in the semifinals against London.
In the 3-place game, it looked like a balanced run for a long time. However, Tricksters did not use their chances to open the score, and on the contrary, they did not have the chance to punish their opponents. Tricksters also lost their fifth duel in the tournament and finished fourth.
Nevertheless, these games have moved us a step closer to our goal. Many players have gained valuable top-level experience and have found that they can only move harder in their glacial career.
