Lacrosse Sunday

The Sunday morning in Bratislava passed in the sign of preparations for the historically first match of Slovak women's lacrosse. A derby was played between players of Prievidza Hammers Girls and Tricksters Ladies from Bratislava.

For the starters, girls from Tricksters coped with lining of the pitch and preparations for the game. After a initial struggle with the pitch girls put their jerseys on and got themselves into battle mood. In the first match girls tried to harmonise within the team and get to know their opponents. Then a goal series started after scoring of the first goal. Every one of the Ladies managed to score and so all of them had credit in achieving their victory. The final score of the match was in favour of Ladies 10:4.

In the second match Ladies revived old attack systems. They also rediscovered the positives of mutual communication, help during scooping the ground balls, double teams in defence and help during transitions. Ladies succeeded in playing as a harmonised and clever team. They left as victors from the second match as well 9:3. I also have to praise Girls from Prievidza who played with zest and engagement. They fought for every ball and did not give girls from Tricksters a single moment of rest. The most productive players were number 99 (N. Ivanková) and 7 (S. Kullová) who caused the most severe problems to the Ladies' defence.

Tricksters Ladies had in these matches the honour of showing their new blood. New girls need to be praised a lot for their game. They played an excellently and with their game they showed an enthusiasm, zest and thrill in every second of the match. Our goalie was catching really well and so she helped to gain a hard-earned victory. The weekend ended with success of our Ladies, but the most importantly with a big achievement for Slovak women's lacrosse. We hope to see each other during matches like these at many other occasions and mainly in bigger numbers.
